2024 - Maya Render: 3D Modeling Final
Since I was already comfortable with using Blender, I wanted to start learning Maya, using it throughout my 3D Modeling course in college. The final assignment started from a project to explore lighting, which then led into a project to create a 3D narrative using three renders.
2024 - Architecture Study
Before wanting to study 3D, I wanted to study architecture. I revisited my fondness for architecture recently, and wanted to replicate a style of architecture and create a render of it. Being most interested in gothic architecture, I decided to make a scene with this style. During my process, I found that referencing various architectural diagrams are most useful in creating all forms of architecture. In the case of gothic architecture, I applied some of my knowledge from art history courses and took into consideration of the importance of light and ornamentation.
2023 - Volumetrics and GOBOs Exploration
I wanted to create an organic and overgrown scene, but have the lighting be the most vital component. I took to exploring volumetrics to show rays of light, and GOBOs to create the shape of the volumetrics. I also created particles for the first time in this animation. Using Blender to render the scene, I then put the image sequence into After Effects, where I added lens flare and burns.
2023 - One Hour Challenge
Thinking that I needed to challenge myself now knowing the general basics of Blender, I wanted to challenge myself by creating a quick scene in Blender in only one hour. I liked sci-fi and geometric themes as they were the most fun to work with, so I aimed to create a scene around that theme. After I finished the render, I used Photoshop to add the lens dust and particles, as well as the UI overlay.
2022 - First Render Using Blender
Picking up Blender for the first time completely on my own, the process I wanted to use to learn the software was to visualize a simple scene in my head, and then aim to create it. Whenever I ran into an obstacle or a process I did not know how to do, I would search for answers online, then continued my work.
